Independence Day in Yuba and Sutter
Cardboard Boat Races at Ellis Lake Friday, July 3
Sponsored by Exchange Club
of Marysville, registration at 10 AM, races at 2 PM, for ages 8-17. Life jackets
are required, will be supplied if needed and must be worn at all times while in
the boat. Supplies needed to construct boat will be provided. No motors of any kind
are allowed. Each individual boat is timed from start to finish in each age group
that determines the winners for each age group. Prizes awarded are the Titanic Award
(for the best sinking), Best Decorated, and America’s Cup.

Children's 4th of July Star Spangled Parade Saturday, July 4
Saturday, 10:00 a.m. on Plumas Street in Yuba City. Children up through 6th grade are
welcome to participate in the 7th annual free event by dressing up, decorating their
bike, wagon, skateboard or roller skates and celebrating America's Birthday. Staging
begins at 9:30 a.m. at Plumas and A Streets. The parade concludes at the Town Center
where refreshments and other goodies will be available. Parents are welcome to accompany
their children on the route. All participants receive an American Flag to waive.
No animals, pets or motorized vehicles run by fuel are permitted, although battery
operated vehicles are permissible. Safety helmets are required. Sponsored by Yuba
City Fire Department, 822-4686 and Yuba City Parks and Recreation Dept, 822-4650.
